Looking for a
unique gift or some jewelry for a special someone? Consider these
beautiful bead necklaces (worn as bracelets above), handcrafted by women working in orphanages in Uganda, Africa.
Welcome Home Ministries Africa is the largest orphanage in Jinja, Uganda, for children aged birth to 6 years.
Founded in 1995 as a home for dying and destitute babies, they began taking in babies born prematurely, or with malaria, measles, tuberculosis, AIDS, starvation and other potentially fatal diseases. Children who would otherwise be neglected, rejected and discarded, now have a chance at life. The ratio of one ‘mom’ for every three children ensures that each child gets the love and attention that they need and deserve. Women that work at the orphanage make this special jewelry using recycled paper.
Money raised by the sale of these necklaces goes toward supporting the orphanage, along with the women and their families. Funds raised are shared between Welcome Home Ministries and Grandma’s House of Hope.
These necklaces are now available to purchase online for a
donation of $20, or a
donation of $50 for three necklaces. Shipping is included, and we will pick necklaces for you
based on your favorite colors.
The necklaces are also
sold at all major events that GHH attends and hosts–make sure to look for the necklace stand at our next event!
